When I moved to Tucson last year I thought we were here for good. But just as I was snuggling in...

I learned we are about to move! We must be a couple of Loons!

We are about to take flight...
and come in for a landing...

Double-crested Cormorant in Bar Harbor, Maine June 2011 |
It came as quite a surprise!
Though it won't happen until January.
I should have known when we left our footprints in the sand in Acadia National Park
That one day we would return again to the mountains and coast of Maine!
I thought I was a Rock Wren when I lived in Arizona.
Or maybe a Brown Creeper when I lived in the woods of New England.
but maybe I am a sandpiper after all.
My husband's new job is in Bath, Maine, which is Downeast on the coast.
There should be lots of birds to see there!
And in Maine, they ALWAYS leave a light on for you!

Merry Christmas from Kathie's Birds!
Kathie, you are like a nomad. I believe in the saying, home is where the heart is. Your heart is with your hubby! Are you really moving again? I hope you enjoy your new place. Cute post and wonderful birds. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteEileen, it will be fun and exciting but also hard to leave my grandson and son and the dear friends I have made here. and moving to Maine is January is just about insane! But, here we go again!
DeleteOh my, it seems like you just arrived. But, if you gotta go, I can't think of a better place. You'll have a blast birding there. I wish you all the best for your move and in your new home. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank You Carole! I am sorry I never got to meet you in person. We are headed to the desert museum today though.
DeleteI won't be here to welcome you back to Maine, but I'll be back in the spring!! There ARE lots of birds to see here. And you'll be in such a lovely area. I return to Maine twice a year, and always have such a glorious time. Hope your move goes well.
ReplyDeleteKaHolly, well, I will be there in spring so maybe we can finally meet up!
DeleteGood luck with the move... this Mainer welcomes you!
ReplyDeleteHey Josh, thanks! My husband is native Maine-iac but I am not, so for him it is a homecoming! Nice to meet you and thanks for the welcome!
DeleteWishing you all the happiness with your new endeavor!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila! I'm up for another adventure!
DeleteOur local doctor when I was young, used to say, 'Everyone should have to move every 5 years to get rid of their junk', so you shouldn't have any, Kathie. I hope it all goes smoothly for you, and you find lots of birds, and some birders ready to welcome you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Happy wanderer! I am sure I will find plenty of both!
DeleteYour first image is so amazing. I don't know how you managed to get such a wonderful close up shot. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lady Lilith! The duck was asleep at a local park and I have a long lens!
DeleteSweet post! I love your positive attitude about the move, Kathie! Maine sounds like a beautiful place to reside. Looking forward to hearing about your birding adventures in Maine!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! I am hoping for the best after I get over the sadness of saying good-bye to my son, grandson, and dear friends here.
DeleteGreat photos and story to go with them. Maine is a beautiful place to live! I have only visited there, but it is magnificent. Of course, I haven't been there in the winter, so that might not be so great... :-(
ReplyDeleteAnne, thank you. I have lived there before and my husband is from Maine, so I kind of know what we are in for!
DeleteJulia, thank you!
