What drives a birding blog post to go viral is still a mystery to me. Is it a cute picture? A salient topic? A great author? Key words that make the post easy to find by search engines? A well social networked person? A combination of all of the above?
What were your favorite and memorable posts from BirdingIsFun.com during the last year? Please tell us in the comments!

ReplyDeleteThese were all such excellent posts--I remember them well. Rich Steel's post with the Nordic birds was pretty awesome too, and I mean awesome in the literal sense, not the over-used teenagers take on the word.
Thanks for all of your hard work Robert.
There really have been some amazing blog posts at BirdingIsFun.com over the last couple years. Some really great ones didn't really go viral for whatever reasons that I'll never comprehend. Thanks you for being one of those amazing BiF contributors!

DeleteThanks, Robert, for a rich blog and providing the invitation and venue for publishing my first ever blog post this fall. You helped get me over a hurdle I'd been looking at for some time. I appreciate all the time, talent, stories, information, encouragement, and images shared by all the contributors.
ReplyDeleteJeff, we've both known that you were destined for the birding blogosphere with your epic write-ups and photos shared on the Utah birding listservs. It was only a matter of time. Glad you made the leap to share you passion and talents!
DeleteThanks to all of my fellow BiF! contributors, and especially to you, Robert, for having this marvelous idea in the first place. It's been such a pleasure to be a part of this team and I've learned so much from all of you. I'm looking forward to another great year of birds, birding, and Birding is Fun!
ReplyDeleteLots of photos of bright colored birds--the more photos, the more popular and shareable. Photo quizzes do exceptionally well. It's no accident that the #1 post is a photo quiz with lots of bright birds!
