Greens and blues mingle in the background in ways found only on the gulf coast of Florida...
(This one really doesn't fit with the rich blue and green theme, but the feathers are just so cool!)
We just don't get these color combinations in Cincinnati (especially at the end of winter and beginning of spring)!
Florida birds are fearless. They let tourists (like me) creep around them with cameras in hand without batting an eye...and what an eye!

Love that bird! Great pictures you got on your trip Kelly. Greetings from Sweden / Kenny

ReplyDeleteA lovely series of Great Blue Heron images Kelly!
ReplyDeleteAh, the Great Blue Heron, one of my favorite photographic subjects. I love your images, Kelly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun set of photos of a wonderful bird!
ReplyDeleteI feel like prey there staring down the business end of the Great Blue in that 3rd to last photo. That must be the last image many the frog and fish sees in this world (not a bad way to go I suppose)
ReplyDeleteFantastic detail shots Kelly.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we missed Florida Blues this year due to Mrs. T's surgery. We'll be back next winter...:)
ReplyDeleteWow those are up close and personal, fab too!
ReplyDeleteKelly, these shots are fabulous, and you're right, the backgrounds are so beautiful! Maybe I can get some decent Great Blue shots next time I'm in Florida, because they always know I'm coming before I ever see them, and I usually end up with Great Blue butt shots!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous Great Blue Heron close-ups, Kelly! The are most definitely one of my favorite subjects to photograph. Beautiful, detailed, colorful images!
ReplyDelete...thanks, everyone!! I just love Great Blues in Florida. They are so cooperative. They look at us tourists and don't even blink an eye. Here...if you get 100 yards from one they take off shrieking in horror!! (Plus, the beautiful aqua colors don't exist here. We have lots of beautiful lakes, but it takes an ocean to get that kind of background.) :-)
