Audubon Guides: Ultimate Nature Series Apps

Green Mountain Digital's partnership with the Nation Audubon Society is producing some the most fantastic apps available for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. I'm currently trying out "The Ultimate Desert Southwest Nature Guide". It reminds me so much of the book Audubon Field Guide to the Rocky Mountain States that I got for Christmas a couple years ago. As a super portable digital app on a smartphone it is even better! The app of course includes all of the awesome birds in the region, but also has comprehensive profiles of butterflies, fishes, insects, spiders, reptiles, amphibians, trees, wildflowers, and mammals, and natural history information.  What more could a naturalist or naturally curious person want?!

Check out the fantastic and affordable selection of Audubon's mobile field guides apps. These apps have beautiful and intuitive interfaces that even kids can learn quickly. It is so easy to navigate and to find the information you seek. I showed the Southwest Guide app to an "old guy" I work with who is the antithesis of "techie". He's an avid hiker and said "This app would be awesome to have when I'm out on the trail." Get them for yourself or for the outdoor enthusiast in your life!

Oh, and don't forget, if you love birding and eBird like I do, you've got to have the updated version of the Audubon Birds app that has the really cool new feature of "Find Birds with eBird."

Disclosure: These apps have been provided to me by the developer for the purpose of these reviews.
