This afternoon as I set out feeders in preparation for this weekends Big Sit! at Avimor, I noticed a scene right out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie...about 20 Turkey Vultures roosting in the tall cottonwoods along Spring Valley Creek. It was neat to see them spreading out their wings, perhaps to dry out or simply to catch thermals. A little further north, just above Foothills Heritage Park, there were two separate huge kettles of 150+ Turkey Vultures soaring and circling in the thermals. A pretty amazing sight!
